All About…Salesforce: August 2022

August has been a lovely month in my area of the country, with temperatures hovering around 70 degrees. In personal news, my wife and I are preparing for the birth of our son at the end of August. It’s been a period of tidying and organizing both at home and on the job. This month’s email features information about the Winter ’23 release, an excellent Order of Execution diagram released by Salesforce Architects, a case study about our work to support immigrants seeking citizenship, and information about upcoming events.

WINTER ’23: How is it Winter Already?!

The Winter ’23 release is currently underway. As of August 11th, Salesforce has provided its customers with access to preview sandboxes where you can test new features and functionality against your Salesforce configuration. This preview window is a critical time for you or your Salesforce admin to regression test your Salesforce setup to ensure everything is working as designed against the new release. The release dates are rolling and fall on September 9th, October 7th and the 15th. I’m excited about Dynamic Forms for Accounts, Contacts, and Opportunities! We’ve all been clamoring for it! With Dynamic Forms, you’ll be able to set up particular standard objects with conditional field and section visibility. The long-term impact of this change means shifting from using Page Layouts for visibility to handling data visibility in a more streamlined and dynamic way at the Lightning record page level. More intel on this and other compelling changes can be found in this blog from our friends at Salesforce Ben.

RESOURCE: Salesforce Order of Execution

As Salesforce continues to innovate and introduce new features to the Salesforce platform, it can be hard to keep up. The Salesforce Architects blog on Medium is a practical and helpful resource to keep up with changes and best practices. While it can get technical quickly, there are valuable resources, such as the recently published post, Salesforce Order of Execution Visualized. As our clients continue to mature using Salesforce, automation can be a powerful tool to optimize and streamline business processes. System administrators need to understand the order in which different types of automation fire as the results can impact performance and data quality. We’re happy to talk more about this – reach out for more information.

CASE STUDY: Empowering Immigrants

Long-time client Mobile Pathways needed an innovative and flexible method of automatically alerting immigrants to changes in their court cases. As the target audience is individuals often in dangerous circumstances, helping them quickly navigate the immigration process can literally be the difference between life and death.

Meet Hola Asistente, powered by vetted immigration attorneys.

  • A free-to-use service, powered by vetted immigration attorneys.
  • Via SMS technology, Hola Asistente texts detailed case information to immigrants while tracking and alerting users about any changes to their cases in Spanish, English, Ukrainian, French, and Creole.
  • Constant monitoring of court websites for any changes (e.g., a new judge is assigned or a case is rescheduled) and sending an SMS alert when changes occur.

EVENTS: Our Dance Card is Filling Up

Some of my colleagues are returning from ASAE Annual Meeting and Expo in Nashville. It sounds like they had stimulating conversations with association executives about ways Salesforce can be used to support association business needs, like member management, dues and renewals, and more. We’ll be at several upcoming conferences – let us know which you plan on attending!

Keep your eye on our Events page for updates!
