Life at Fionta

Featured Fíontan - Mary Dare Brown

What inspired you to pursue a career in technology consulting?

Working in technology suits me well. I am an antsy person by nature and like to stay productive. Since tech is always changing, there is constantly something new to learn. I enjoy working with nonprofits. You can sell technology services to many clients, but the most meaningful and impactful are those doing good in the world.

Tell us a bit about what you did before you joined Fíonta.

I spent about four years in sales at Blackbaud, working with K12 schools and nonprofits. I learned a lot about how nonprofits operate, which I put to good use at Fíonta.

Share a bit about a project you’ve worked on at Fíonta that is meaningful to you and why.

I had the opportunity to work with the National Partnership for Women and Families as they transitioned from LCRM to Salesforce NPSP. They are knowledgeable and hardworking, and more importantly, they’ve made strides for women in the workplace. As I was recently promoted to “mom” in October 2024, my perspective on what matters the most has changed. I truly appreciate the great work NPWF has done and continues to do.

How do you see your role at Fíonta evolving over the next year and beyond?

I would love to work on different projects and expand my knowledge of Salesforce. I could also see training a new account executive in some capacity as a mentor.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever received, and how has it impacted you?

Rely on my faith and trust my gut. When I doubt myself personally or professionally, this gives me a sense of peace.

Which of Fíonta’s core value(s) strikes closest to home for you? Why?

Do what’s right even when it is hard. I think this is a mark of a person with true integrity, and I strive to be like that, whether it’s with a client, colleagues, or family and friends.

What is a hobby or interest that you’re passionate about?

I have recently taken up Pilates, and it’s much more challenging than I expected. I also thoroughly enjoy hunting for vintage and antique unique finds—something I get from my mom.

Podcasts or talk radio?

Podcasts. I have many interests, so podcasts make it easy to digest them.

Beaches or mountains?

I’m from the South Carolina Lowcountry, so I’d have to say beaches.

Night in or night out?

Night in. Sushi and a good crime thriller.

College or professional football?

College. Clemson football, of course. Go Tigers!

Favorite nut butter?

Classic chunky peanut butter.
