All About...Salesforce: March 2022

Spring was supposed to be around the corner but we just got walloped by a good eight-inch dump of snow this past weekend. It correlated well with the daylight savings time change because my weekend was spent largely lounging around and staying warm inside. This month’s email includes some details around the new Nonprofit Cloud licensing, three events worth attending, an existing feature highlight called ‘Console’ and in the spirit of spring cleaning, notification of a breaking change being enforced in the Summer ‘22 release.
NEW SOLUTION: Nonprofit Cloud (unlimited or enterprise)
Nonprofit Cloud licenses are now available for new Salesforce customers. Beginning this February, Salesforce is selling a new license type geared towards nonprofit customers called the Nonprofit Cloud license (Unlimited or Enterprise). The license includes access to Einstein Prediction Builder, Address Standardization, Cash and Accrual Accounting as well as the Program Management, Nonprofit Success Pack, and Outbound Funds modules and the price point has changed to reflect access to so many additional tools. This new offering provides broader base-level access to best in class features and functionality that can take your use of Salesforce to the next level. UPCOMING EVENTS: NTC ’22, Salesforce Nonprofit Summit, outbound funds webinar
NTC, NTEN’s annual nonprofit technology conference, is next week (March 23-25, virtual). Fíonta has taken part in this juggernaut of a conference for well over a decade and this year we’ll be presenting Preparing Your Data for a Major Migration and premiering a demo of Tableau CRM, and will be available in the Marketplace (Zoom) for one-on-one conversations. Nonprofit Summit 2022 is the second annual virtual event led by Salesforce.org and focused on nonprofit solutions. Mark your calendars for May 17 and 18 – registration is open (and free!) and a thorough agenda is forthcoming.

QUICK TIPS: Salesforce console
Salesforce offers the ability to create what are called ‘Salesforce Console Apps.’ These are tab-based workspaces that are suited for fast-paced work environments. These workspaces give you the ability to work on multiple records simultaneously on a single screen and will reduce time spent clicking and scrolling to quickly find, update, and create records. END-OF-LIFE: Salesforce platform API legacy versions
As of the Summer ’21 release, Salesforce Platform API legacy versions 7 through 20 of the SOAP, REST, and Bulk APIs became deprecated and are no longer supported by Salesforce. Customers can continue to access these legacy API versions until Summer ’22 is released, which is when these legacy versions will become retired and unavailable. When versions 7.0 through 20.0 are retired, applications consuming these versions of the API will experience disruption as calls will fail and result in an error indicating that the requested endpoint is not found and unable to be processed by the platform. In advance of the Summer ’22 release, you will need to modify or upgrade their applications to function with the most current API versions available in order to prevent any disruption caused by software referencing retired versions. Moving to newer versions of Salesforce APIs will offer advanced capabilities with improved security and performance.
