All About...Salesforce: May 2022

Another gorgeous day where we are. The trees are blooming, and everything has turned a healthy shade of green. After such a long winter, it’s always surprising that life springs back into action as the weather warms. We took a nice walk this morning down to the river with the dogs, and now it’s back to work with the windows open.

On the professional front, there are lots of recent developments in the Salesforce space with the upcoming Summer ’22 release and the Nonprofit Summit. I’m thrilled to invite you to a grants management-focused webinar we’re hosting next week and share a blog we co-wrote with Salesforce.org about our work with PFLAG.

EVENT: Salesforce.org Nonprofit Summit

The annual Salesforce.org Nonprofit Summit was held yesterday and continues today with an incredible lineup of nonprofit speakers highlighting the work of organizations such as the World Central Kitchen, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, and new innovations in Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud. In addition to the speakers and events, the resource page (which requires registration in order to access) provides some excellent product-specific documentation and articles to help you accelerate your use of products, such as Salesforce’s Accounting Subledger (ASL). I’d love to know what sessions you’ve attended, and I’ll be providing a readout of some of our favorites in next month’s email.

UPCOMING RELEASE:  Summer ’22

The Salesforce Summer ’22 release preview is now live. You can access new features and enhancements in your preview sandboxes and regression test your existing functionality against the new release. The release will be generally available in Production on June 12. The release notes can be found here and are worth reviewing. Our friends at Salesforce Ben have scoured the notes and highlighted the “ten hottest features.” Which one(s) light your fire?

WEBINAR: Let’s Talk About Grants Management

In March, my colleague, Cooper Westbrook, showcased Salesforce’s free Outbound Funds Module (OFM) in our first grantmaking-focused webinar. OFM is also a building block of the most robust native Salesforce tool currently available for grantmaking organizations, Grants Management (GM). What are the differences between the two? How could your organization benefit from implementing GM?

Join us for an hour-long webinar next Thursday (May 26, 10am PT / 1pm ET) that highlights the benefits of GM for foundations and other grantmaking organizations. We’ll discuss what GM offers above and beyond core OFM functionality, including its built-in Grantee Portal, private invitation functionality, and the capability to house multiple application forms. You’ll also get to see a demonstration of GM and ask your specific questions about the module and the implementation process.

Advance registration is required.

RESOURCE: Salesforce feature retirement

You may have recently received a handy Feature Retirement digest email if you’re a Salesforce user with admin privileges. This helpful email highlights features, apps, and more that are due to be retired shortly. Expected retirements that will directly affect your Org ID are emphasized. If you’re not an admin, the generalized version of the retirement list is accessible on Salesforce Help.

BLOG: How This nonprofit increased donations after switching to Salesforce

Originally published by Salesforce.org, we co-wrote this blog about migrating PFLAG from Raiser’s Edge to Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud and Experience Cloud.

PFLAG is the first and largest national chapter-based organization for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) people, their parents and families, and allies. It was an absolute honor to be selected for this transformational project. In this blog, my colleague, Cindy Lackow, discussed the four pain points that PFLAG was experiencing and about results achieved following the migration.
