Katy Burns

Katy, a licensed CPA, brings over a decade of experience in financial and professional services. As COO at Fionta, she oversees finance, people and culture, contracts, and security. With a strong foundation in accounting and auditing, she was trained to focus on the facts, value the order of operations, and bring structure to complexity. Though numbers have been a constant in her career, she is a data nerd at heart. This passion drove her to pursue a Master’s in Business Analytics from Notre Dame, which she now leverages for data-driven storytelling and decision-making. As a member of the executive team, Katy has guided the company through various stages of growth and transformation. She strives daily to be a fair witness and to meet people where they are.

Outside of work, Katy finds joy in trail running, discovering new music, and baking bread. A travel enthusiast, she’s always on the lookout for the next adventure and new places to explore. Katy is also a board member and long-time volunteer at Miriam’s Kitchen, an organization dedicated to ending chronic homelessness in Washington, DC. While North Carolina will always be her home base, Katy has embraced DC as her own. She lives in NW DC with her husband and sourdough starter, Betty.
