Fíonta Sessions: Fonteva Finance

Are you a member of an association Finance team that uses or is moving to the Fonteva Association Management System (AMS)? Then you are invited to Fíonta’s Fonteva Finance series! 

Join us starting in August for monthly blog posts and accompanying office hours focused on Finance-specific topics for Fonteva users. We outline the topics and schedule below and welcome you to register for any (or all!) of the sessions. Association Salesforce / Fonteva administrators and IT team members are also invited to attend.

1) The Fonteva Finance App

Wondering where the important finance information is in Fonteva? We’ll walk you through the Fonteva finance app and explain why the included tabs are important.

2) The Fonteva Business Group Record – post coming in September

An in-depth overview of the Business Group record, including all the settings there as well as important related objects like Chart of Accounts, Payment Gateways and Tax Locales.

3) Fonteva Items: Why They Are Important to Finance – post coming in October

The Fonteva Item record is the home to many important settings, such as Tax rates, Shipping information, Default accounts, and deferred revenue preferences. We’ll discuss in detail the relationship between the Item and Subscription plan records and how they work together to determine the number of overall transactions created for deferred dues transactions.

4) Finance Data Flow in Fonteva – post coming in November

We’ll review the key objects for Finance, including Sales Orders, Invoices, Receipts, E-payments, Transactions and Transaction lines. You’ll see how information is pulled from items to create the original sales order, and flows from there through to transaction lines.

5) Finance Reporting in Fonteva – post coming in December

We’ll review how to use the Salesforce reporting tool (Filtering and Display Options), and the included reports in the Fonteva Financial Reports folder. We’ll discuss strategies for making more data available to you in reports than just the included objects. We’ll show how to update Custom Report types to pull in other lookup fields and show how easy it is to create custom formula fields on the Transaction or Transaction Line record to make related information easily available.

6) Reconciliation Process: Tying Fonteva to Your Finance System – post coming in January

The flexibility of Salesforce allows us to create some custom objects and fields, and use them to tie Fonteva transactions directly to Journal entries in your system. We’ll provide some samples and talk process and tools to use for updating data in Fonteva once it’s been imported/entered into your Financial system.

With over 24 years of working for and with associations and nonprofits, Katie Jones is a seasoned consultant who understands that process and technology go hand-in-hand in realizing nonprofit mission and maximizing return on investment. Her overall industry knowledge enables her to evaluate current state processes, systems, and data to identify gaps and recommend appropriate actions.

Katie can both define requirements at the highest level and implement process changes and AMS / CRM tools for clients at the most detailed level. She is a key member of our Fonteva team, serving as Fíonta’s in-house Finance and Accounting Subject Matter Expert (SME), and holds multiple Salesforce certifications.
